Mo LoBeau washed ashore as a baby in tiny Tupelo Landing, North Carolina, and was taken in by The Colonel and Miss Lana, who run a cafe. Mo is determined to track down her birth family but she gets distracted from that task and turns detective when her best friend is accused of murder and the Colonel mysteriously disappears.
